Compared with infectious disease, chronic non-communicable diseases are often out of focus because of their long duration and limited population involvement, but when emergencies come up, this cohort of the community is among the most vulnerable in the population due to their ongoing requirements for consistently coordinated care – care, which is often lifelong, and involving complex ongoing treatment.
Preparing for the unexpected and supporting the vulnerable, there still have a lot to do, and that is just where our mission and responsibility lay.
