How much do you know about your kidney?
The kidney is two bean-shaped organs in the renal system. Each kidney is about the size of a clenched fist and weight about 150 grams. Each kidney has about one million nephrons which are responsible for filtering the body’s entire blood supply. Each nephron includes a filter, called the glomerulus, and a tubule. The nephrons work through a two-step process: the glomerulus filters your blood, and the tubule returns needed substances to your blood and removes wastes.
